The project will enable County Kids Read to arrange author visits to local schools and purchase books that facilitate social and emotional competence in children.
Friday the 13th was not unlucky for grade 6 students from Prince Edward Collegiate Institute. They enjoyed a visit to the County Kids Read book room and every student took home a book they had chosen. Their teacher reports, “The children were so excited to have a new book - and how lovely for them to get a gift right before the holidays.”

Every year since the early 1980’s the Children’s Foundation through its Angel Tree Campaign has helped Prince Edward County families, who are unable to afford gifts on their own, have gifts for Christmas. This year County Kids Read was happy to be part of the tradition by donating boxes of new books to Kinsmen Hall in Benson Park where Susan Rose and her volunteer angels try to make sure that every child in the County has a merry Christmas.

County Kids Read has resumed it book visits this fall to Sophiasburgh Public School.
During the month of August, donation jars were placed in various businesses around the County by members of the Wellington District Lions Club. Through jar donations of $1007 plus a generous anonymous donation the Lions raised in excess of $1500. These funds will be used to purchase much needed books for the County Kids Read program.
The Wellington Lions Club would like to thank all the businesses who welcomed our donation jars and helped us with this important program to benefit the children in our County.
